It's always exciting to welcome a new Yirgacheffe to the fold and this coffee from farmer Teku Shequ Kurse is a worthy proponent of that region's celebrated reputation.

Teku Shequ Kurse's farm is just over 5 hectares and his family has been working on this plot for over 30 years.

It has been many years since we've been able to source a coffee from a single Ethiopian farmer. The country's often clandestine market regulations have made it challenging for single farmers to get properly rewarded for their work but this may slowly be about to change.

In 2019, the Ethiopian government began to allow single farmers to apply for export licenses. However, it is still very challenging for these individuals to export and it is still a rarity. We hope that initiatives encouraging these kinds of farmers to export, such as this one set up by Nordic Approach, can move the process forward.

Ethiopia has long been a favourite origin of the team at Cloud Picker Coffee and it's only right that the individuals on the ground growing this incredible coffee are recognised, celebrated and allowed to grow the reputations of their produce amongst the worldwide coffee-drinking community.
