Christmas is full of nostalgia, and this year we’re bringing back an old favourite. Frontera San Ignacio stood out for our team in 2022 for its gentle juiciness and delicate acidity. This year’s offering finds that balance again, with notes of milk chocolate, custard and golden raisin bringing a comforting sweetness to the festive season.

This washed coffee comes from San Ignacio in Peru, where members of the COOPAFSI cooperative grow coffee at 1,000–1,800 metres above sea level. The varieties include Typica, Caturra, Mundo Novo, Bourbon, Catimor and Pache.

COOPAFSI, Cooperativa Agraria Frontera San Ignacio, brings together 432 members, supporting coffee quality alongside technical, social and financial development for its growers. Their farms sit in the buffer zones of protected natural areas, where western and eastern mountain ranges meet to create distinctive microclimates for growing coffee.

Recent initiatives include bio-orchards, agroforestry and reforestation projects that restore wildlife habitats while supporting honey production. This work is led by 81 members of Las Damas de San Ignacio, the cooperative’s gender equality committee, alongside the development of digital tools to support sales.
