Jaén is taken from a number of small producers in the northern Cajamarca region of Peru. It is a real challenge for these producers to compete in Peru as the country does not have a tradition of small farms in the same way many other of the top coffee countries do.

This coffee was selected by Lima Coffees, an award-winning exporter headed by Rony Lavan. Rony's focus on quality has lead him to make a point of working with smaller producers, in spite of the difficulties in competing with the larger farms in the country. As with many of the coffees grown in Peru, this coffee is grown and produced organically.

We were really struck by the body of this coffee when we tasted it and it's worth trying a brew method which can highlight this quality in the coffee.
