It's a delight to bring you such a delicate Kenyan, full of refreshing fruits and florals and a beautiful tea-like finish to savour after each sip!

The Gachatha Factory serves the Gachatha Farmers Co-operative Society, a group of 900 farmers who work 391 acres of land in this part of Nyeri. This land falls in the middle of four villages: Gachenge, Muthuaini, Thiriku and Kianjau.

The area is densely populated and the factory thus needs to remain very vigilant with its waste water and pollutants. There are soak pits for treating waste water to avoid it mixing with the fresh water serving the locals. The community is also focused on protecting the indigenous plant life in this area which in turn helps maintain the local wildlife.

There are nine permanent staff at this factory whose roles include weighing incoming cherries, managing complaints and paying the farmers. The average contributing farmer has 300 trees and less than 1 hectare of land, often growing a number of crops to supplement their coffee produce.
